Mastering Your Mind is a structured wellbeing programme created to help schools teach the life skills many students are never formally taught.
Built for ages 11–14 and based on the award-winning book Mastering Your Mind, the programme was developed in response to the growing emotional, social, and behavioural challenges facing young people today.
Originally created as a book by psychotherapist and JTeen founder Yaakov Barr, Mastering Your Mind supported young people across the globe through practical psychological tools and relatable life lessons.
As schools increasingly looked for preventative wellbeing resources that could be delivered in classrooms, the programme evolved into a structured workbook curriculum designed specifically for schools and camps.
The programme combines evidence-based psychological approaches, including cognitive behavioural, mindfulness, and compassion-focused techniques, with practical classroom learning.
Students are taught clear, relatable strategies to help them:
• Build confidence and resilience
• Develop emotional awareness
• Manage stress and anger
• Break unhealthy habits
• Develop healthier thinking patterns
Lessons are discussion-based, practical, and designed to encourage reflection and real-life application.
The programme was created to work in real educational settings.
• Structured, time-efficient lessons
• Clear and accessible language
• Suitable for mixed-ability and neurodiverse learners
• Minimal preparation required
• No specialist wellbeing training needed
Teacher PowerPoints, lesson guides, reinforcement activities, and short training videos are included to support delivery.
The programme integrates proven psychological approaches with strong values and perspectives in a clear and accessible way.
It is suitable for values-led school environments and aligned with UK PSHE guidance while also being compatible with U.S. SEL frameworks.
